Since I have been using Coconut Oil, I have found that it is helping me feel better overall. Below are Even More Benefits of using it (depending on your Needs). Where to Buy:  Most Wal-mart’s & COSTCO carry it on the aisle with the other cooking oils & health food stores should have it as well.

Personal Hygiene/Body:

1. Moisturizer – simply scoop some out of the jar and apply all over your body, including neck and face.
2. Eye cream – apply under the eyes to reduce puffiness, bags, and wrinkles. Use on the lids in the evening.
3. Pre-shave – coconut oil will prep skin for the pending damage caused by shaving.
4. Aftershave – coconut oil will help heal your skin after shaving without clogging pores.

5. Deodorant – coconut oil alone can be used as a deodorant, but even more effective in combination with cornstarch/arrowroot powder and baking soda!

6. Hair Conditioner/Deep Treatment – use as a leave in hair conditioner by applying a teaspoon of coconut oil to your ends and then running your fingers through your hair to distribute the rest! For a deeper treatment, rub in a tablespoon of coconut oil onto your dry scalp and gently work through to the ends. Put a shower cap on to prevent transfer onto bed linens and leave on overnight.

7. Hair Gel & Anti-frizz – rub a little between your palms and either scrunch into hair (for curly hair) or finger comb in through from scalp to ends (for wavy/straight hair).

8. Toothpaste – there are numerous recipes out there but I just mix coconut oil and baking soda and dab a little of the mix on my toothbrush.

9. Make up remover – use a cotton swab and a dab of coconut oil and you would be amazed at how well it works!

10. Lip Balm – just rub a little into lips and it not only acts as a softening agent but it also has an SPF of about 4 so you get a little protection!

11. Massage Oil – pretty simple; grab some and rub!
12. Lubricant – it is an all natural, perfectly safe personal lubricant. Not compatible with latex!

14. Stretch Mark Cream – coconut oil is great at nourishing damaged skin. It may not be the magic stretch mark cure but it will help.

15. Nipple Cream – works great to nourish cracked, sore, or dry nipples. Apply to a cotton ball and leave on your nipples between feedings.

16. Diaper salve – very comforting on a rashy bum with no harsh chemicals. Also safe for cloth diapers.

17. Cradle cap – having issues with dry skin on your baby’s scalp? Coconut oil will not only nourish your baby’s skin, it also helps eliminate cradle cap. Just rub a teaspoon onto scalp daily.

18. Body scrub – mix coconut oil and sugar together and rub all over! Rinse off and your skin will be super soft! You can add in essential oils if you would like a specific smell.

19. Healing – when applied on scrapes and cuts, coconut oil forms a thin, chemical layer which protects the wound from outside dust, bacteria and virus. Coconut oil speeds up the healing process of bruises by repairing damaged tissues. Plus, it smells a heck-of-a-lot better than anything from the pharmacy.
20. Bug Bites – when applied directly to a bug bite, coconut oil can stop the itching and burning sensation as well as hasten the healing process.

74. Goo Gone – just mix equal parts coconut oil and baking soda into a paste. Apply to the “sticky” area and let it set for a minute. Then scrub off with an old toothbrush or the scrubby side of a sponge.

75. Chewing Gum in Hair Remover – just rub some coconut oil over the stuck chewing gum, leave in for about 30 minutes, then roll the gum between your fingertip. Voila! It’s out!

76. Polish Furniture – coconut oil with a little bit of lemon juice to polish wood furniture. However, I recommend you test it first on a very small, unobtrusive part of your furniture to make sure it works the way you’d like.

77. Polishing Bronze – all you have to do is rub a little oil into a cotton towel and then wipe down the statue. It cleans and helps deepen the color of your bronze.

Tips to Help a Sagging Face

A droopy, sagging face tends to add years to your face, making you appear older than your actual age. Below are some helpful tips on how to keep your skin supple and from sagging and it takes only minutes a day! Choose two or one or all each day! Also drinking plenty of fluids helps keeps the skins elasticity as well!

If done properly, facial exercises really helps lift and revitalize sagging skin. Here are given a few simple and easy facial workouts to prevent skin sagging. Using a Face Mask and other Skin Care Products to tone and tighten pores before doing these exercises is also helpful!

  • After brushing your teeth in morning and using mouthwash to “warm up” your facial muscles, puff up mouth with air and then release it gradually. Repeat the process 4-5 times. It is a great exercise for toned and glowing cheeks.
  • Moving your mouth left and right, with closed lips of course, three to four times is an effectual workout for stretch the muscles around the mouth and lips.
  • To make your brows feel relaxed, pull them up or raise them, hold on for 10 seconds and then hold them down for the same duration (as if to frown). Repeat twice or thrice. This facial exercise will also tone the muscles as well as prevent the formation of mild lines around this specific area.
  • On the temple, place your index and middle fingers on just above your eyebrows and exert a light pressure on them. Release and repeat five to six times.
  • Using thumbs of both your hand stroke your chin upward. It will help minimizing the double chin.
  • To relieve stress from your facial muscles, exerting slight pressure, move your fingers in the upward direction from the lower part of your eyes to the sides of your forehead.

Dextox Baths.. A Great way to Relax & Refresh

Detox Baths are something I like to do when I just need to recharge after a long day or even long work week or when I feel a cruddy cold coming on (or have already caught one). The hot water and the ingredients used helps draw out toxins in the body, flush your system, and boost health.

As with any Hot Bath, make sure you DRINK at Least 3 GLASSES of WATER.. ONE BEFORE as well as ONE DURING and ONE AFTER your bath to make sure you stay hydrated and continue to flush out toxins. A warm rinse in the shower is recommended to make you feel even more refreshed.

I Recommend Soaking in the Bath of your choice for at Least

20-30 minutes!

SALT & BAKING SODA BATH RECIPE :

  • 1/4 -1/2 cup Sea Salt
  • 1-2 cups Epsom Salts  (this will help relax muscles and draw out toxins)
  • 1 cup Baking Soda (to help soften skin)
  • Favorite essential oil ,if desired (I use 5-10 drops of lavender to help promote relaxation and deep sleep)

* NOTE: You can also Add 1/2 Cup Apple Cider Vinegar if you desire a more intense bath to draw out more toxins.

Turn Water on, and make it as  HOT as you can stand it and add the above ingredients, except for the oil.  Fill up the tub and add the oils right before you get into the tub!

GET OVER A COLD FASTER BATH:

(To help you feel like yourself again)

  • 1-2 cups Epsom Salts  (this will help relax muscles and draw out toxins)
  • 1 cup Baking Soda (to help soften skin)
  • 1-3 Tablespoons Ground Ginger (to help you sweat out toxins and the “crud”)
  • Eucalyptus or Orange essential oil   (to help clear the stuffy head, chest, etc)

Turn Water on, making it as HOT as you can stand it and add the above ingredients, except for the oil.   When the tub is filled, add the oils right before you get into the tub!

The ULTIMATE BATH & SPA EXPERIENCE …

While your bath is filling you can (1) Cleanse your face w/ a facial cleanser, (2) Use A facial scrub, & (3) Apply a Mask (I like using a Mud or Clay Mask) right before getting in the tub. (soft music is a nice touch too). Then rinse the Mask off with warm water when it dries and continue to enjoy your bath.

Ways to Take some time for Yourself…

We all lead busy lives… for some it’s work, kids, family, school or all of them! After a while running this fast paced “rat-race”, can wear us down where we begin to feel worn down and unproductive which is why it’s important to RECHARGE by taking some time out for ourselves.

This can be done in many ways, here are a few suggestions

   * Indulge Yourself! Take a long luxurious soak in the tub….

You can use use bubble bath, oils, bath salts, (epsom sea-salt have  great detoxifying properties), Baking soda (to soften skin), light some candles, play some soft music, pour a glass of your favorite beverage.

Soak for 20 minutes, while letting your cares float away!

    * Find a quiet place whether it be inside or outside 

I enjoy sitting in my backyard or by a creek, and read a good book while listening to the sounds of nature around me.

* Give yourself a mini-spa pampering session

I sometimes use a facial scrub then apply a mask then just sit quietly with my eyes closed (you can also add music if you choose), until it dries,  take a  a warm/hot shower then apply my favorite face lotion, foot cream, and body lotion.
